Is this some Picard-Fuchs equation?
-
Ish. It's a "non-Abelian" Picard-Fuchs equation, coming from isomonodromic deformations of flat SL_2-connections on P^1\{x_1, ..., x_4}. Closely related to Painleve equations...

well at least it's non-linear
-
Amazingly, it's integrable -- though I don't know how would prove this without knowing where it came from.

Why using the partial derivatives while there are only two unknowns w and z depending on t only and in an undetermined system. Would have expected an additional eqn coupled/simultaneous to this one with time derivates of w(t) and z(t)? And some boundary and initial conditions?;)
