It's a good chart (I retweeted it!) but I think the accompanying description wildly overstates its case. The improvement in non-infectious-disease mortality is 50% of infectious-disease-mortality, and over the period shown is a 25%-30% decrease. That's significant.

I'm only passingly familiar with the Amish case but my understanding is the best interpretation of the Oregon study is that private individuals were not actually going without care. This defeats the "repealing the ACA will kill 30,000 people per year!" claim but...

... is less useful for indicting modern medicine generally. (And people can make and have made arguments from financial stability, fairness etc. for the Oregon study still justifying health-related public transfers.)
