What is the primary inference you can draw about people who get tattoos and piercings? My guess, they are commitment-philic, opposite of commitment phobic. Reverse is not necessarily true (commitment-philic does not mean you’ll get a tattoo or piercing).

I imagine the sexual angle is clearer in modern tattoo subcultures, with traditional being more about tribal affiliation?

oh no idea about that although lots of traditional rites seem sexual to me - re: pain I’m thinking of otzi but also personal experience
