A lot of casual criticism I see boils down to "this thing/person is uncool" and it's frustrating because I want to know the actual reasons why the thing is disagreed with (...if there are any)

it’s annoying but probably way way way more efficient to do it aesthetically rather than analytically
if you tried to eliminate it completely it would probably make you seem stupid and crazy

Aesthetics are great and all it’s just not guaranteed that what’s cool in any given community is actually what’s true or good.
