Then you just need a crackpot options market. Individual investors are the original meta-crackpot after all, betting on who is a legit and who isn't.

(It's not perfect, the first market lead to the first crash, etc, but any way you can take crackpot OR academics and expose them or someone evaluating them to skin in the game, you have your answer)
