At least in architecture visual imagery of order (ex. early modernist white boxes) tied w/ cleanliness & pathogen avoidance.

maybe also motives/justifications for slum clearance, where disorder would also be a function of overcrowding/poverty?

definitely intertwined - there's this body of research that suggests pathogen cues make people more conservative lol
