the real trick about judging the goodness or badness of having children it's *unknowable in principle*.

existing in the first place is a precondition for feeling any way at all about whether not would've been better

ppl like to say that proves existence wins but nope, that's sneakily an Anselm argument & it doesn't quite fly

the other possibility is it really wld've been better not to exist but nobody could have known that in advance

I really think if you agree have the argument on the antinatalist's terms then antinatalism wins. it's airtight

the option left for pro is "you may be right, but we don't know & I opt to give existence the benefit of doubt"
