There needs to be a word for when terrible markets form and the suppliers blame the demanders and the demanders blame the suppliers and now suddenly both sides have lost culpability but *clearly* there's some shared responsibility there

Very nice example. As for naming, I think I really should just name it. My brainstorm is here: https://twitter.com/krzhang/status/1263596030282461185?s=21 … “Grift of the Magi” works really well, but I don’t know if it’s dated. Do kids know the reference?https://twitter.com/krzhang/status/1263596030282461185 …

If you don't I'm going to fill your TL with bad brainstorms: "grabbing the invisible hand's.... foot" "deniability swap" "the Grift of the Magi" "the perpetual machine of unaccountability" "twin scapegoat generator" wow I really like "the Grift of the Magi," actually.

that's accurate as a description, think this needs to ride along on some vivid imagery the circumstances under which one is prompted to say "a pox on both your houses"

I think the fact that every time there's a conversation about group named "X-ist", "X-ist" is simultaneously used as 3 TOTALLY DIFFERENT things: 1) the "ideal X-ist" 2) the median X-ist 3) the angry minority X-ist is the cause of all the word games and stupid wars on the net
