I wonder if there's any way to tell whether people are getting a whole lot more food poisoning now that they're cooking without much experience and eating dodgy leftovers.

people eat so so so many times, there has to be a TON of waste (plus luck) to avoid food poisoning for decades on end

ppl do dumb things like pseudo-"wash" their chicken in tepid water, spraying salmonella everywhere, and obsess over bits of dried food & grease on pots that must be sterile. meanwhile leftovers sit out for hours, bathroom hands go unwashed...
