when writers use "she" for the gender-neutral 3rd person pronoun, does it distract you or do you tend not to notice? and does the pronoun apply to you?

the age thing interests me bc for me, it feels like there's a feeling of "oldness" associated with texts that use exclusively "he" as a "hypothetical-person" pronoun like reading a technical manual from the 80s or something? that kind of feeling
