Bro please thrall all my tweets and tell me where i ever mentioned x-risk. It's not a weapon because it's not an attack. I've been looking for years for the post-rat and rat difference (see https://rivalvoices.wordpress.com/ ). Not my fault this is where I ended.

Morgan said "obsession with ex risk", which sounds like the risk from your ex boyfriend :) "It's bad to change your life because of reasoned arguments"... what else do you change your life based on? You hear arguments, you observe people, you try things. So do rationalists.

am i morgan? are you talking to him or i? "It's bad to change your life because of reasoned arguments" citation needed what i didn't say but would stand behind is "changing my life and habits by the force of pure reason" is fucking retarded

I think we mean different things by "pure reason". To me, it's very reasonable to consider my gut reactions, social traditions, etc. Then there's "overriding your subconscious feelings with someone else's system 2 argument" which is a real but rare failure mode of rationalists.

ok that's def. not a classical definition then but that's fine. do you think that's what most people tag as "pure reason"? do you think that's what most rationalists tag as "pure reason"? > a real but rare failure mode of rationalists alternative-explain all the akrasia.

I wasn't ascribing any valence – "dissociated" is not "better" or "further along." It's a different path. I might say it's an easier path, but hard to say.

As for whether post-rats are more embodied, it's mixed in my experience, but certainly the key thinkers are liable to be more woke in that way. Rationalists on the other hand are almost always disconnected from their bodies.

Ok, I'll buy that. I've been trying to get rationalists to go dancing or play soccer for years now, with limited success. But I wouldn't jump from "disembodied" to "autistic and traumatized".

I think that this is the valley of bad post-rationality, which makes Eigen the first post-post-rationalist.https://twitter.com/eigenrobot/status/967114911401652225 …

Post-rationality: finding out that what was missing for you in Rationality discourse is X ∈ [trauma/spirituality/embodiment/equanimity/etc]. Bad post-rationality: assuming that every other rationalist's problem is lack of X.

that’s a very interesting interpretation that I’d never though about before! (both of them)
