Have you ever been punched in the face? If so what was it like? (Any context from sparring to real bad situations)

1 amateur mma fight, regular boxing sparring - on the nose fucking stings, but whatever, you don't even notice the blood. eyebrow/temple can make you see stars, but you shake off - headache the rest of the night. clean jaw shot will put you out, or make it click when you eat.

this is so fascinating to me - almost aesthetic classification of different punch locations https://twitter.com/bugs_meany/status/1225685812253093888?s=21 …https://twitter.com/Bugs_Meany/status/1225685812253093888 …

Depends. If you get it in the nose, you see flash of light, massive pain, but it won't ko you. In the jaw, driving into head, you stand chance of insta-blackout. Same behind the ear. Doesn't hurt till later. Anywhere else, it can often do 'nothing'. Literally bounce off.

I think most-interesting take away is "feast-or-famine" dynamic of being punched in the face Its sort of a roll of the dice whether its, "no big thing" or "take you out in 1" Your head is mostly bone w/ a few, very sensitive spots. The bone parts don't hurt much when hit

*the unmentioned exception is the occipital lobe (eye socket) Its never happened to me, but some ppl can get real unlucky and catch on on eye-side, and shatter the thin bone around eye and it can fuck you up badly.
