One day we're gonna have to deal with the fact that there are at least 3 different 'game studies' with radically different methodologies, terminologies, writing styles & research goals that all keep trying to talk to each other with the same words but with very different meanings

Deliberately, I don’t think so. But I feel like there’s a lot of crossed wires when I’m reviewing for conferences or journals, and that just which wires have been crossed isn’t always immediately clear.

This reminds me, I recently read an astounding piece of writing, a chapter about board games from the book More Studies in Ethnomethodology by Ken Liberman. Not only did it radically alter my thinking about rules, I think I vaguely get phenomenology now? hmu if you want a pdf <3
