Imagine a pill that makes you unconscious, but still able to function normally, for 8 hours. While on it, you can move, talk, form & access memory, work, etc. (like a p-zombie). It costs $5. How often do you use it?
yeah, with your long-term memory slightly different from how it was going into the shift, so you can roll right back into conscious life

You'd remember having written notes to your future self, for example? (They just wouldn't... evoke anything? Your memory would be more matter-of-fact? Like you'd just _zoned out_ during?)

good question - hard to imagine artificial states of mind! I think the memories would be there if you went looking for them/need them, not rushing in on you all at once as you come back to consciousness
