the word is still used, but in a very different sense (achieving a result in a hacky/temporary/unskillful manner, as opposed to an ethical breach)

I definitely think cheating is possible in crafts - any particular examples that come to mind?

often has to do with craft genres being defined by the tools allowed - blacksmithing often implies coal or gas fire, but not oxy-acetylene (which can create VERY localized hot spots). Files and drilles, yes, but not CNC, etc. often conventions around starting materials
