Something poetic in the fact that there’s apparently no natural yellow dye that is very lightfast. Gold destroyed by sunlight.

the most beautiful and least lightfast, no matter how much metal you cram into the wool first

Turmeric stains lighten but don’t easily go away entirely though. I’ve had to fight them a lot since I’m a sloppy cook and put turmeric in half the things I cook. Stainiest thing I use.

it’s also that it neutralizes and turns more grey/brown over time
