Is there a word for when you say something that you’re aware is probably wrong in >5 ways, but still mean it sincerely in a certain context? (Not irony, but a close cousin there of)

I also think great art has to do with honesty in this way and not the normal way

That’s an interesting connection - sort of like giving full expression to a range of meanings, but without claiming that expression as definitive and/or not wrong? (I don’t know if that sentence will make sense) Did/do you find this tension with honesty when working on writing?

yes! - it even crops up making shawls and spinning yarn stupidly enough, just every decision you make having to be an honest one

and noticing when I don’t have the skill to be fully honest with a technique - have to build up to it

Oh boy....that opens up a pretty different range of interface with honesty. By being ‘honest with a technique’, do you mean something like if someone were to claim they were making an omelette but they can’t do it so they end up with scrambled eggs? The hand can’t express it yet

that could be part of it! you can make honest scrambled eggs at that point but not an honest omelet
