I don’t have much shame about ignorance these days - but I have a high tolerance of ambiguity, and the hard part is the noticing.

I have one friend who is spectacularly good at noticing a word she doesn’t know and asking about it - I want to get better at this.

i used to read old books and underline every word i didn’t know, compile a vocabulary list and repeat them over and over again in my head when I got stressed
