I started in college - normal sports style, epee weapon (where the entire body is target including face & feet)
hardest part is finding people near you who do it and a place to do it

there’s a bit of equipment but it’s not as expensive as like, ice skating

mostly it’s a matter of figuring out how to move with a different center of gravity in a straight line very fast
