Experimental research on "priming" has fared poorly in replication studies. But isn't priming reliably used by mentalists in stage magic, where stakes are high and consistency is crucial? Can't find anything that discusses this.

I thought it was good pop-science - and a good read. A point made often is that the study of magic and stage illusion has been neglected, partly because scientists don't like being tricked! I read it around the same time I read The Elephant in the Brain and connections jogged.
