I think the problem is Neal Stephenson is very smart and has a lot of niche knowledge but can’t tell which of it his readers will and won’t know what and so he just explained what the word “biometric” means

I've been thinking lately that the problems of nonlinear narrative are basically the same problems as communicating with an audience with unknown & heterogeneous knowledge
