What if the parents have two kids but one has a severe disorder manifesting in nonverbal ASD which drives both parents into deep depression (never experienced before)?

parents were the source of causality in that chain

of course im going to have an uncomfortable reaction to that and wince upon reading about the suffering experienced by parents but i think having children can be a grave mistake to yourself, let alone to your child(!)

Sure but the hypo is they've had the kids. And let's say they were extraordinarily responsible but it's a genetic defect. Can they off themselves or do they owe a duty to the children and eachother?

at this point i feel like people have a responsibility to understand genetics and statistical 'mechanics'. no, they can't

i guess, ultimately, i'd err on the side of, if you have kids, you lose your inherent right to suicide.

How can there be an inherent right of suicide? If you prevent someone from biting their tongue, intubate them, etc., it's possible to prevent them from suiciding. Some "right."

moral right not legal right - suicide is de facto illegal in most places

It's de facto legal but de jure illegal, I think you mean. Regardless, I was discussing the supposed moral 'right.' No such thing.

Okay, what you said was wrong and I was correct. It's de facto legal to commit suicide since it's easy to do. It's de jure illegal in most jurisdictions. That aside, I'm unsure of what you mean by "right." It sounds something like, "my preference." It's a minority preference.
