I agree, but this is a fun thought experiment Maybe there's a mammal somewhere down the chain that's sort of like us but didn't develop status do they travel in packs? do they coordinate?

the reason i'm interested in this is mainly cause the discussion ends up being "can you escape status" which is important imo but also there's other cool things to think about here. how does it work? where does it come from?

yeah if you try to answer about e.g. octopuses you have to try to figure out what social status even is
