Which is why it extends to prohibiting animal products from honey to animal-based glues in shoes(it is a Thing), but some vegans are ok with cashmere because traditionally it’s not harvested *from* the goats, but from plants that collect the hair from the goats’ underbelly
oh interesting - I wonder about ciscus resin (plant) harvested from goat bellies? probably annoys them tbh

Super good question! Asked the resident vegan- (tentatively) for most vegans it would first depend on the status of the goats’ captivity, then if they’re being put into harms’ way to collect the seeds, or trauma caused by being restrained to be combed etc.

Honestly the combing totally sounds like a win-win, the safety and well-being easily guaranteed, but to be fair to vegans, a lot of granular questions in ethics get into hoopjumping pretty fast
