Easy question Because our hunger and satiety system has been broken. Hunger will win over willpower EVERY time. The question to ask is why are we so hungry? The answer is man made food which has Sugar Grains and Seed Oils. Processed food provides pleasure DOES NOT CORRECT HUNGER

I don't think its been broken, it works exactly the way it evolved to. The problem is that it evolved during times when food was scarce and evolutionary adaptions to seek high calorie foods helped us survive. Now junk is readily available and very cheap.
