In Gould's 1988 "The Honey Bee" I read that flowers promise (or lie about) sweet "pollination for nectar" deals. Surprise: Flower evolution is similar to trademark competition! Guess: "only giving nectar to BEES" avoids wasting VERY limited calories? Clever flowers :-)
