one lichen that produces bright yellow is https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Letharia_vulpina … and apparently the reason it grows in rings is sapsuckers (birds) peck in rings and open the tree up to lichens where peckedpic.twitter.com/W0R9L3Yd3h

yes! very good for wool/silk, probably also good for linen/cotton if mordanted with metals
