The true lesson of the Sokal affair isn't political debasing of social sciences (though that is certainly real) it is that our society is over-reliant on language games as proof of work when it comes to intellectual output. 3/3

This isn't to say that complex language can't express valid ideas, it is just that it isn't the signal of intelligence people take it to be. 4/3 ;)

There a lot of very well-intentioned bookish people who accidentally use overly complex language not even to show off but because they don't understand the authors they read are showing off. 5/3 ;)
