sometimes the answer can be summarized in one word (like “calculus”) but the imprecation to read a book doesn’t include it
that said I don’t know if including a one-word summary makes the tactic more or less annoying

hehe I used that example because a case where there is no one-word answer could get tedious to discuss. Certainly a lot of dumb discussions of the AI robopocalypse are best addressed with just telling people to read a CS theory textbook, though there's no one-word answer there.
