1) things people just explain 2) things that make people mad and haughty when asked to explain, e.g. “read a 1st year textbook”

I think the difference is not just that 2) are more basic than 1), but that 2) is a sign that it’s something core to an imaginary world

being asked to explain (2) is like having to tell someone the rules of the game, breaking the flow

it makes people REALLY mad when it’s about their main imaginary game that they use to define their self-worth

likewise I still say "it's not my job to educate you" is legit when it's simply the fact rather than a status move but my ethical rule is always convey assumption of good faith f try to add "but [pointers in more helpful directions]" if I do *have* to say it
