well I can only think of two reasons to do activism. 1. you think it might work (i.e. persuade other people to agree with you) 2. you think it is socially rewarded in some way and reason 1 necessitates "adopting a strategy"

choosing/forming and executing a good strategy is hard. poor strategy doesn’t indicate bad faith to me.
