I’m not a skeptic of hiking poles like I am of hiking boots but I’m curious if any pre-industrial people use(d) them
doesn’t it have a hook on it for catching sheep or whatever? idk I’m so ignorant

I never realize how ignorant I am until I try to flesh something out

Are there like, staff experts that exist that we can ask?pic.twitter.com/lgFW2BO2FB

They do have a hook. Extrapolating from my experience with cows you're only using it in close quarters when driving the sheep into a confined space. On open spaces you rely on being (or having a dog who is) able to outflank them.

Idk either. I wouldn’t think hiking sticks would have ever been popular on flat land, but in steep country it’s almost just like a no brainer. I have zero evidence to support this.
