Does anyone understand the point of “hiking boots” and can you explain it to me?

I think most people have non-rubbery ankles that break easily, and as such the committee that determines public consensus and market forces deemed it better to put strain on the knees, maybe to reduce liability

Do yank outdoors stores not carry trail-oriented trainers? Around here it's maybe 70/30 towards boots, but certainly there's a respectable presence from trainers. (I wear boots because lol hypermobile joints, but that's neither here nor there)

that’s what I wear (“trail running shoes”) but when I’m on the mountain I see almost all hiking boots
