Does anyone understand the point of “hiking boots” and can you explain it to me?

So that you don’t break your foot via pressure fracture from walking on rocks for 10 miles, so that you have better grip on said rocks- especially during potentiality treacherous portions of hike, so that your feet don’t get soaked if walking through water.....
yeah I don’t get the physics of how they take strain off feet? my feet do hurt after 20 miles running or hiking
