          I recall some philosopher being totally convinced that all conclusions come from "natural reasoning" and that we only use logic to check whether our ideas hold up

          fuck, this is entirely too supported by priors i still need to hate Thomas Aquinas though so maybe what i'm mad about is if you didn't even go looking for interesting conclusions, you just obediently went to work justifying what you were given
