Sounds like the way “utopia” is sometimes defined within architecture.

Trying to remember how I heard it defined exactly, but where the idea of perfection involved in a utopia made by another designer wouldn’t necessarily conform to one’s own standards of whether it was desirable, a utopia could mean a self-contained aesthetic world more generally.

otoh self-contained aesthetic worlds are fascinating bc it's maybe the closest we can get to being actually inside another person's subjectivity (imo)
