How should one think about situations where there are conflicting "doing nothings"? E.g. climate change: Doing nothing politically = increase emissions Doing nothing from physical earth system = getting emissions to zero.

I work in operations, sometimes, the best solution IS to actively sit on your hands. Otherwise, you enter a train of decisions that are worse, or at least more unpredictable than not making a decision. Trying to fix it is often signalling "I want to show I'm doing something"
