I am distilling this into a liquid and pouring it into an IV bag for direct transfusion into my veins.

She is brave to write this. People say "just have a baby; it'll work out" (depending on the prospective mom; race/class can suddenly invoke doctrine of "personal responsibility"), but the reality is that it's financial doom for most Americans to have kids

One thing I argue in my book is that- WHATEVER YOU THINK about abortion morally- it's clear policies like PFL & affordable child care will reduce the rate. I don't think you have to be on one side or the other to believe finances shouldn't be the driving force in these decisions.

Because there is no way I would take a two and a half year old and an eleven month old to sit in a gym hours past their bedtime. It would be miserable for them and for everyone else.

I have two small kids & don’t live near family. If I lived in a place where there were caucuses I’d have to pay someone to watch my kids so I could go vote bc voting only happens at a specific time. I’d basically have to pay to vote. It’s ridiculous & inherently exclusionary.

I’m still sitting here thinking about all the ppl in Iowa who work at night, the ppl taking care of sick family, the parents who can’t afford childcare, & the ppl with disabilities all of whom who couldn’t even vote in the first place bc of how unequal & antiquated caucuses are.

I don't really know prices in this world particularly well, but $70,000 dollars to develop an app of this importance seems like....not that much money?

Wealth is power. An extreme concentration of wealth means an extreme concentration of power In much of the 20th century, the US tax system protected against extreme wealth disparities. Not anymore The case for the wealth tax, in the Boston Review 👇👇👇
