First, hookup culture -- like all cultures -- prescribes a norm. That doesn't mean that most ppl can or will obey it. For ex., it's culturally normative to go to college, marry, buy a house, + then have a kid. A huge proportion of ppl DO NOT DO THIS, especially not in that order.

Hookup culture is completely compatible with both a decline in the number of new sexual partners and less sex overall. In fact, I would go so far as to say that hookup culture CAUSES these declines. How?

As the article cites, one of the systemic reasons for U.S. racial health inequities is because our “healthcare system is dominated by white doctors, while Black physicians are underrepresented.”
I would expand this statement to include most health professional roles.

Florida just banned everything I teach at the university level. If legislators bothered to take my class, they’d learn that backlash events like this always coincide with white supremacist vigilante & state violence. Then again, they may already know.

If Intro to Sociology doesn't fulfill general education requirements, many fewer students will take it (because almost no one comes out of high school knowing what sociology is). If few students take Intro to Sociology, the department will have to cancel most of its sections.
