Revenues are not the only benefit that will result from careful development in the non-wilderness 1002 Area. We will also create thousands of good jobs that support families and help put kids through college.

And while we can be confident in those benefits, we can be equally confident that none of this will come at the expense of our environment, because new technologies have left the footprint of development even smaller.

The size of development pads has decreased by nearly 80% since the 1970s. New technologies have expanded the subsurface reach of the newest rigs by 4,000% over the same period. Many exploration wells are now built using ice roads and ice pads—leaving no impact to the tundra.

We will balance the potential impacts of development, and that's why we have not avoided environmental reviews. We will not sacrifice wildlife for the sake of development. There is no question that development & environmental protection can and do exist in Alaska.

plz stop misleading people. Your bill changes the very purpose of the refuge which is the foundation of any environmental review and, makes no action alternatives impossible. Be sensible wildlife would be shoved aside for oil.

Oil isn't bringing in the revenue it did. You need to balance eco-tourism with oil revenues. People don't come to see oil pipelines, and they won't come to see places and wildlife damaged or destroyed by them We have plenty of those in the lower 48.

I do not think you should drill. There is no way to ensure the wildlife that so many come to Alaska to see will remain in the area. Sad you see this as what Alaskans want

Her ammendment to look for gas in wildlife habitat, destroying the legal concept of refuge, has won. She's thrilled. It took her 40 years to gain the right to destroy polar bear denning habitat. Well, not MY senator. My senator, @SenatorCantwell, busted her butt today, like all the @EnergyDems except for @Sen_JoeManchin (who's lost in the 19th century) to block the drilling of ANWAR. I think her amendment has succeeded. It's now part of the tax bill, no? Now we work to take down this tax bill bc it tries to take down ACA It's not to happen for 4 years, so perhaps just a game. Such a waste of time. + there will be litigation as BLM law conflicts w refugee law.

Collins, McCain, and Murkowski will look like suckers of epic proportions to their constituents if, after opposing the repeal of Obamacare on multiple occasions, they fall for a transparent ploy like wedging a repeal of the individual mandate into a crappy tax bill for the rich.
