THREAD There’s been a lot of talk about welfare today in Ontario, and changes that are coming. Here’s my story: in the 90s, I was, at times, a welfare mom. I used food banks occasionally, too. Sitting in a welfare office is soul-crushing. You lose hope.

Canada is dismayed by the most recent escalation of tensions in Israel & Gaza, and condemns rocket fire from Hamas into Israeli communities. The killing and injuring of innocent civilians must stop. Canada encourages Israelis & Palestinians to pursue a peaceful solution.

Man, those staffers look silly. Worse: no one had anything better for them to do. What a waste of $. You could cut your staffers by half and save us a buck!

Dear Premier Doug Ford and the PCs: You got the gig. You won. That's your revenge on the Toronto media punditocracy, which is overwhelmingly anti-Ford. You don't have to rub it in by needlessly provoking the Queen's Park media, who are mainly good reporters just doing their jobs.

Clapping to shut up reporters isn’t as bad as calling reporters enemies of the people, but it will be just as self-defeating, in the end.

For everyone going ballistic about Trudeau's so-called "Twitter diplomacy:" Stephen Harper did the same thing. It's the Saudi response that's unprecedented here

Here, at 10 min mark, is more of my story. 20 years later, it’s still raw & emotional. No one aspires to be on welfare. It’s not “easier” than having a job. No one chooses that life.
