    THREAD There’s been a lot of talk about welfare today in Ontario, and changes that are coming. Here’s my story: in the 90s, I was, at times, a welfare mom. I used food banks occasionally, too. Sitting in a welfare office is soul-crushing. You lose hope.

    Dear Premier Doug Ford and the PCs: You got the gig. You won. That's your revenge on the Toronto media punditocracy, which is overwhelmingly anti-Ford. You don't have to rub it in by needlessly provoking the Queen's Park media, who are mainly good reporters just doing their jobs.

    The United States is taking a neutral stance between Canada and a regime that beheads people.

    NEW: I got the Trump administration's first comments on the dispute between Saudi Arabia & Canada. They want to make it clear they're not taking sides. (And they called Saudi Arabia & Canada "both close allies" which, um, only one is in NATO.)

    Here, at 10 min mark, is more of my story. 20 years later, it’s still raw & emotional. No one aspires to be on welfare. It’s not “easier” than having a job. No one chooses that life.

    A must listen with Begins with PM & the Danforth, then an open, honest & emotional Lisa on her experience as a single mother on welfare, her return to school, then to Ottawa, later Sr. advisor, LPC. What needs doing on welfare. A great story & woman!
