LA County June 13th Update (2/2) Record number of cases, in spite of the test counts tumbling downward... They didn't report on ever-hospitalizations today in the press release so I had to pull it from their daily stats. Hope this is a fluke.pic.twitter.com/rExLD42pWR

LA County June 14th Update (2/4) I need to retract my orange testing charts since 6/7 - the legend + data is correct, it switched to hospitalization data by accident (Google sheets failing silently kills me). LA County June 14th Update (3/4) Also retracting these hospitalization charts since 6/8 (same issue - legend/data was correct tho). New hospitalized is implausibly low (+ lowest since 5/27) - esp. now that they're not showing totals in the main report. https://twitter.com/liora_/status/1270112095674101760 …pic.twitter.com/pMnBrqW3NM

LA County June 14th Update (4/4) Thankfully these charts weren't affected by the chart bugs 🙏🏻 Current hospitalized is lowest since June 1st. Based on the last chart, I'd guess uptick in hospitalizations is related to Memorial Day.pic.twitter.com/JPgfaT3M9C

LA County June 15th Update (2/3) What's wrong with today's data? In short, I'm concerned standards may have changed: - Removed 298 cases (b/c non-residents) - Hospitaliztns. no longer reported & only increased by 1! I'm skeptical. - Current hospitalizations also at all-time lowpic.twitter.com/SPhgHQOowV

LA County Notes (2/4): Timing's important to understand the data, especially w/ 3 backlogs + a retraction confounding things. Took stab @lapublichealth's episode data. Added the 7-day avg to smooth out the noise. Reminder: recent data is incomplete. https://twitter.com/DFisman/status/1245693392568360960 …pic.twitter.com/VEDtLKEKqY

LA County Notes (3/4): There are many reasons "why" cases can be increasing: Re-open? Holiday? Protests? Attitude? Testing? Testing is least likely given the protest closures. Looks like big jump is ~5 days after Memorial. More minor ~5 days after protests.
