Great PR. Every open source project should move to gitlab or other alternatives. Also Linux Foundation should be run by actual linux users, developers and kernel hackers. The guy wrote the PR uses macos. I guess money buys a good amount of PR

Great to see this from the Linux Foundation as well. It's only because of some bad reputation of Microsoft in the open source community that's causing chaos. Otherwise I believe it should be beneficial for everyone.

The third last paragraph hit the nail on the head. Sadly, many still have a picture of Microsoft under Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer, ignoring its transformation. It will take more time for the company to prove itself, even though it has been doing so for years.

If they really love Open Source, they can prove it overnight: if they Opensource Windows and Office, there you are, otherwise they just use Open Source and contribute to it for their own advantage and interests.

They could opensource everything, Windows, Office, etc overnight just like they purchased Github overnight, it's just a matter of taking that decition. but they don't, their love for open source is an interested one, they only use it for what they need, nothing else.
