Nearly tears of joy seeing new paper in medical journal with correct analysis and interpretation of aerosol transmission: https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lanres/article/PIIS2213-2600(20)30323-4/fulltext … See thread for summary of main points. /1

Haven't read the paper yet, but curious if there's study or evidence that simple cloth masks reduce transmission of aerosolized virus sufficiently? Public health implications of changing recommendations are beyond fraught (here in US at least).

I have now read the paper and see the focus is on wellbeing of personnel in medical contexts. There is one datum reported on use of surgical masks (43% reduction) worn by patients. Bottom line: time to invest in HVAC companies

Only UV-C?

Do you happen to know of any papers on uv light intensities, durations, freqs necessary? It wouldn't be too hard to install light behind the filter in a return register. I believe home ACs recirc 20X/hr when on. If quick uv were good enough, then would be a hospital rates.

A solution in need of a problem.

TLDR. Speaking and breathing heavily indoors are major vector points for spreading coronavirus. This means bars, gyms, schools, churches. Masks and distancing reduce risk, but they are not effective in poorly ventilated/filtered rooms with large groups of people.

I don't know how often I have this argument with folks. Your car has brakes, airbags and seatbelts all to keep you safe whilst driving. Masks, good hygiene, physical distancing and being in more open spaces all work togethers to keep you from getting or spreading the virus.
