When we practice speaking, the only feedback we usually get is when we fail to communicate. We only know that that didn't work. We don't really learn anything useful. We need input to continue acquiring language!

I always thought that speaking to someone who's a native in your target language makes all the difference. Because, when I spoke to my fellow partners in learning, I don't learn that much.

That is of course true, but depending on your level, even a little conversation with a native speaker is enough if you do a lot of listening and reading, especially if your tutor ives you a full report with audio of your discussion.
