Lots of abandoned buses just sitting around in Mongkok. Many people are taking pictures at this strange sight. The city usually resumes daily routine after a night of protest, but this morning has been quite different.

Nathan Rd has only one open lane right now, meaning that everyone else has to take an awkward detour to pass through the abandoned buses. It will take the govt hours to clear this road.

Electricians are looking into one of the electrical boxes that was presumably set on fire during the protest. The box is giving off an unpleasant metallic smell.

A sight that would delight many progressive urban planners. Once the metal fences are gone due to

All in all, traffic on Nathan Rd is somewhat disrupted, but it's not a protest flashpoint right now. Gonna check out what's going on elsewhere in HK.

Protesters have fortified Connaught Rd Central on all sides with rubber pipe, bricks and a double-decker bus. No cars can come through. The idea is that if riot police arrives, the roadblocks will give protesters enough time to disperse.

Situation remains calm on Connaught Rd Central since riot police refuse to show up. I guess the question is what will protesters do once lunch time is over and office workers return to work?

Without any police presence, protesters voluntarily backed off from main road and seemingly ended the lunchtime protest. Some people are saying that their aim is actually to draw away police force from the current standoff at CUHK.
