White people in the arts, look I get it you want to help by supporting "diversity" but honestly the best thing you can do is GET OUT OF THE WAY. While you all line up to apply for leadership positions then "lift up underrepresented voices" you could just idk, help us get the gigs

"When I was new to the media & I was in precarious work, I wasn’t thinking about rocking the boat... anything to do with my culture, race or migration story was not something I really saw as a strength as a journalist until recently. " —, #123

this is an excellent interview between two whip-smart humans, & “I think the future of media depends on trust and I think what people are showing is that they want individuals they can trust to give them information with a personal spin” -

Australia's response to coronavirus is a reminder to some of us that no matter what you change about yourself, how you perform Australian-ness or how you divorce yourself from culture that you can be reduced down to skin colour in an instant. Assimilation is a lie.

And even if you’re a citizen that is no longer a guarantee you’ll actually be allowed back into the country (especially if you’re not white). Decades and centuries of racial exclusion policy, perfected by the past few governments, now being deployed against citizens. Good times.

The catalyst for this is a virus with a (so far) relatively low mortality rate and a total of 12 infections in Australia. If that’s the bar, then expect Australia to become to a fortress when any future natural disaster/global crisis hits.

Two pretty enormous immigration precedents have been set in the past few days: 1. Mandatory offshore detention of Australian citizens. 2. A China travel ban. It’s wild to me this has happened so quickly and we’ve let it go through to the keeper.

Australia where elite sport 'stops the nation' & covers up white supremacy & systemic torture of in and outside centres. We need FREEDOM not state sanctioned violence in the form of mandatory, indefinite detention.
