    Great thread on why online ads are personalized to such a creepy degree. As usual: no, your phone isn’t “listening to you” — it doesn’t need to. Ad networks know way more about you already.

    I'm back from a week at my mom's house and now I'm getting ads for her toothpaste brand, the brand I've been putting in my mouth for a week. We never talked about this brand or googled it or anything like that. As a privacy tech worker, let me explain why this is happening. 🧵

    This. We figured out the optimal form factor for a portable computer ages ago, we have the perfect OS for it, but Apple stubbornly tries to apply insane amount of engineering to attach a keyboard to a screen. Clamshell iPad, please!

    32/ I still want a clamshell iPad. I still want the confusing windowing model to be fixed, but I don’t want to go back to a world of constantly futzing with windows, sizes, and writing apps that have to work at completely arbitrary sizes (versus dozens of fixed sizes :-)) // END
