Also, editors who think they're "better than you at writing" are generally terrible editors—they force every writer's voice into the same mold. They try to make you sound like them. A good editor should help you push your writing so that it's the best version of *your* voice.

In short, this guy sounds like a herb. Writers and editors are allies, editors are supposed to help writers get better. When it becomes an adversarial process with both parties trying to prove that they're "better," everyone has already lost.

Yes this! I always take even edits I don’t LOVE if I don’t mind them in order to really advocate for the things I care about. And omg good editors are the best — and it’s a tots different skill set from writing (although it helps writing, and writing helps editors I think too)
