It certainly doesn't count for ( most) lawyers. But then I'd say no conference truely counts for us - what matters is outputs and to some extent, they can be anywhere. So I observe some of these culture wars with a little bemusement,..

What does count for lawyers is respect for distinct national legal cultures (and values )- and its no surprise our paper majored on that which is I take the award as some minor affirmation.

Or to be even more blunt ; (mainly US) technologists do have to be aware that technology - "code" - does not have the same regulatory value everywhere; and the GDPR is but one law of very many that matter...

Studying comparative law as an UG made me realise that the choices, rules and values of your home culture are just that - choices, not embedded universal values. The value of law to the FAT/ FaacT community may be to make you realise the same about techno-governance.
